Stephen Statement On Federal Judge Moving Forward ObamaCare Lawsuit

John Stephen, Republican nominee for New Hampshire Governor, today offered the following statement regarding a federal judge's ruling to allow 20 states who suing the federal government over the national health care reform law to move forward. U.S. District Judge Roger Vinson threw out an Obama administration request to dismiss the lawsuit. Another lawsuit in federal court in Virginia with states suing the federal government on this law is also moving through the courts.

"That fact that these states, working to stop the downshifting of huge new costs to taxpayers and forcing our citizens to purchase a government-approved health insurance plan, will have their day in court is great news," Stephen said. "Unfortunately, Governor Lynch chose not have New Hampshire join these other states in fighting to prevent these new costs to our citizens, and instead chose to sign a bill to implement ObamaCare here. As Governor, I'll make sure that New Hampshire becomes the 23rd state to join this lawsuit to protect our residents' rights and their wallets."

Stephen noted that yesterday, on a factory tour of Salient Surgical in Portsmouth, workers, from the CEO down to line staff, spoke out against the new law's tax on medical devices that will increase costs and reduce competitiveness in a global environment.

"Yesterday, we heard once again from a New Hampshire company just how damaging this new law will be on our medical device manufacturers," Stephen added. "There is no question that the law the Governor Lynch has embraced will hurt our ability to grow high-paying jobs and expand our economy. It's a real shame that the Governor did not take the time to listen to the concerns of the many business owners who will be impacted by this law."
