Grassley: 22,000 New Englanders Have to Switch Medicare Plans, Despite Promises

Sen. Chuck Grassley, ranking member of the Committee on Finance, with jurisdiction over Medicare, today made the following comment on news that Harvard Pilgrim Health Care will drop its Medicare Advantage health insurance program

"Despite countless promises that the partisan health care overhaul makes the Medicare program stronger, this week's announcement that Harvard Pilgrim Health Care is pulling out of the Medicare Advantage program is just more evidence to the contrary. The White House and other supporters of the new health care law make a lot of promises, but they seem to be ignoring or are out of touch with what's going on in the real world. This week's announcement means that 22,000 seniors -- who were promised by the President that they'd be able to keep their current health plan -- are being forced to find health insurance coverage somewhere else because of the new health care law."
