Stephen Statement On Secretary Of State Launching Investigation Into FRM Scandal

John Stephen, Republican nominee for Governor, offered the following state in response to the news that the Secretary of State will be launching an investigation into the Financial Resources Mortgage scandal that was a Ponzi scheme that defrauded hundreds of investors of millions of dollars.

"I commend Secretary of State Gardner for launching this investigation into this matter that has cost so many families so much," said Stephen. "In the absence of Governor Lynch doing the proper thing and asking for an independent investigation of his administration's lapses in identifying this major breakdown in state government, this investigation is the next best step. We need to give the public the confidence to know that state government will make an open and honest effort to examine its failures to make sure they don't happen again. This is a good first step. Secretary Gardner has done the right thing for the citizens of New Hampshire."
