Smith Statement on House Republicans' "Pledge to America"

Press Release

Date: Sept. 23, 2010
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Trade

WASHINGTON, DC-Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) today offered his strong support for the official Republican governing agenda entitled "A Pledge to America."

The agenda released today is the culmination of a months-long engagement with the American people in which House Republicans sought their ideas and priorities for Congress.

"The differences between the two agendas in Washington are obvious. On one hand there is an agenda marked by bailouts, a government takeover of health care, and tax increases such as cap-and-trade which will wreak havoc on our nation's farmers and ranchers. On the other hand, the governing agenda put forth today is real action we can take to put into motion pro-growth policies which create jobs while cutting federal spending.

"Our national debt is at $13.5 trillion and counting. We need real solutions which can be implemented immediately, and I stand ready and committed to passing this agenda," Smith said.
