Griffith Invites Obama to Southwest Virginia

Morgan Griffith, the Republican candidate for the Ninth Congressional seat, says President Barack Obama needs to take a trip down Interstate 81 during his time in Virginia on Wednesday.

The President will be in Richmond, Virginia, where he will meet with a local family before hosting a discussion on the economy. "I invite the President to come to southwest Virginia--visit a coal mine--and tell us why Cap and Trade is so good for us," says Griffith. "While here, he can campaign for Democratic Congressman Rick Boucher, who helped put him into the White House. President Obama should return the favor by campaigning for Boucher in 2010."

Griffith says since Boucher went out of his way to vote with Obama and Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Cap and Trade legislation, the least the President can do is come down here and campaign for Rick Boucher.

"President Obama says he loves Rick Boucher. If the President means it, and appreciates Boucher's support for 96% of his agenda, then he'll come to southwest Virginia for a short visit this week," says Griffith. "And if the president wants to hear real concerns of American families, he should make a stop in Wise or Russell counties. "
