Sessions: "ObamaCare Is As Much About Health Care As The "Stimulus' Was About Jobs"

Statement

U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX-32) today released the following statement regarding the six-month anniversary of Washington Democrats' government-takeover of health care:

"Six months later, Americans understand firsthand that ObamaCare is bringing higher costs, fewer choices, and government interference in the physician-patient relationship.

"Families and small businesses are seeing their premiums skyrocket under the heavy-hand of government mandates. Some insurers are already ending insurance plans while millions of seniors face reduced options thanks to $500 Billion in Medicare cuts. And physicians are ending their health care practices due to unmanageable Washington interference and incompetence.

"The American people know that ObamaCare is as much about health care as the failed "Stimulus' was about jobs. With an ominous cloud of taxes and regulation, ObamaCare has injected uncertainty into the marketplace and discouraged job creation at time when over 15 million Americans are looking for work.

"Without question, the American people will hold Congress accountable for passing ObamaCare -- even as the Democrat majority stays noticeably quiet on their most unpopular policy. Nevertheless, in a bizarre disconnect with this reality, President Obama and his Administration keep trying to sell the American people on a government-run healthcare scheme that they have already roundly rejected.

"The American people want positive leadership in Congress that will create jobs, grow our economy, and repeal and replace ObamaCare with patient-centered solutions that increase access to quality, affordable care for all Americans. The American people deserve better."
