It is Up to Us Now

Statement

IT IS UP TO US NOW

On September 28, 2010, Ted Stevens was interred in the National Cemetery at Arlington--a warrior laid to rest among warriors, a public servant, resting with the servicemen and women he loved and supported.

A voice that still echoes among the silence of white monuments….

The recent history of Alaska embodied in a single man……Taking his place among the history of our nation.

It's up to us now. History without legacy is admirable but unworthy of Ted Stevens.

We are his legacy; there is so much to do for Alaska -- not in memory of Ted Stevens -- but remembering his dream and passion for the Great land.

My entire life has been influenced by this great man, as a family friend, as my Senator, and as a colleague.

He has shared with me his authority, his vision, and his counsel.

It's up to us now -- let's go forward, let's make history worthy of Ted Stevens and worthy of Alaska.
