Tim Walberg Calls on Schauer to Fix TV Ad

Yesterday, Mark Schauer started running a TV commercial that includes a clip of Tim Walberg speaking, but Schauer's ad cuts Tim Walberg's statement praising American manufacturers mid-sentence to purposefully change the meaning.

At a meeting in Marshall on June 16, 2010, Tim Walberg highlighted that American manufacturers and workers are outcompeting Chinese firms because of superior American quality. Tim Walberg specifically stated that Michigan's real competition is other states and, "It's not China and Mexico that we should really be worrying that much about. We're getting jobs back from China because of quality issues."

The Schauer TV ad fails to play the final four words of the sentence, hiding from viewers the reality that Tim Walberg was praising the quality of American manufacturers and American workers.

"Mark Schauer has sunk to a new low by attacking me for praising American manufacturers and American workers. He should fix his deceptive TV ad immediately, along with apologizing to Michigan workers for his votes if favor of the failed Pelosi stimulus, tax hikes and Obamacare," said Tim Walberg.

"While Mark Schauer is busy cutting and pasting clips to deceive voters, Michigan families and businesses continue to suffer. I will work to reduce government spending, lower tax rates and turn Michigan's economy around," added Walberg.
