Blog: Alliance of Retired Americans Endorsement

Statement

I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Alliance of Retired Americans (ARA). Here is the excerpt from our recent press release:

"The Alliance of Retired Americans believes that electing Greg Rabidoux to the House of Representatives will enhance the quality of life for older Americans," said ARA President Barbra Easterling.

"Greg's leadership on issues such as preserving and protecting Social Security from privatization, especially in 2010, the 75th anniversary year of the program, exhibits a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for older Americans," said ARA Executive Director Edward Coyle. "In addition, our members can support Rabidoux's candidacy because of his belief in the need to provide more affordable health care for older Americans, as well as the need for stronger retirement and pension security, and quality long-term and nursing home care."

Rabidoux said he is proud to earn this endorsement and full support of the Alliance for Retired Americans. "I fully appreciate the challenges facing so many of our older Americans and Tennesseans today," said Rabidoux. "When elected to Congress, I will be a strong and unwavering advocate for all our seniors and will fight to preserve and protect Social Security and Medicare."

"I strongly oppose the incumbent Marsha Blackburn's efforts to eliminate Social Security and Medicare with risky privatization schemes. Blackburn's plan to place the life savings of all our older Tennesseans at risk after they worked hard their whole life to have security and peace of mind in their retirement years is not the answer. Not now. Not ever."

The Alliance for Retired Americans represents more than four million retirees, older Americans, and community activists including more than 58,147 members in Tennessee. The mission of the ARA is to ensure social and economic justice and full civil rights for all citizens so that they may enjoy lives of dignity, personal and family fulfillment, and security.
