Issue Position: Spending & Debt

Issue Position

* Congress is $13 trillion in debt, and continuing to borrow $4 billion a day. The combined economies of the world cannot sustain that level of borrowing and spending. We need to turn off the faucet before the bathtub overflows.

* The Obama FY2011 proposed budget doubles the national debt, increases spending to nearly $4 trillion, and imposes a deficit of $1.6 trillion this year alone.

* Daniel Webster supports cutting spending, balancing the budget, and implementing a line item veto.

* By rolling back the budget to 2007 levels, restricting government spending and making a few tough choices, we could balance the budget in three years, and cut the national debt in half by 2020.
