Like the Rest of Them

Press Release

Date: Sept. 18, 2010
Location: Oshkosh, WI

Oshkosh manufacturer and U.S. Senate Candidate Ron Johnson's campaign launched a new television ad, titled "Like The Rest Of Them." This ad responds to Senator Russ Feingold's misleading attack ad on Ron Johnson.

The Associated Press responded to the Feingold ad immediately, calling it "misleading" saying that the money for the Industrial Revenue Bond agreement Ron Johnson's company secured "came from private investors," Senator Feingold's campaign attempts to conceal his attack ad by making it appear to be a news report and uses extensive WKOW-TV news footage. WKOW-TV noted that the Feingold ad attempts to mask itself as a WKOW-TV news report and said the use of their footage out of context was "just plain wrong." WKOW-TV requested Senator Feingold remove the ad from the air. Senator Feingold refused.

"For Senator Feingold, this isn't rocket science. He's trailing in the polls and he's willing to say anything or do anything to try to keep his 30 year political career alive," Ron Johnson for Senate Campaign spokeswoman Sara Sendek said. "Voters deserve the truth, not more dirty tricks. If all Russ Feingold has left to offer Wisconsin is dishonest attacks then it's no wonder why voters are so eager to show him the way out."
