Statement from the Hon. Rosa DeLauro on Boeing's Selection of Pratt & Whitney for 767 Tanker Production

Washington, DC - Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (D-CT) today released the following statement today in reaction to the Boeing Company's selection of Pratt & Whitney (a division of United Technologies Corporation) as the baseline engine source for 767 Global Tanker Transport Aircraft Programs. Under the proposed agreement, Boeing would supply the Air Force with 100 new tankers, 20 leased and 80 bought.

"This is good news for Pratt & Whitney and good news for defense workers in Connecticut. The 767 Transport Tanker will be the premier vehicle for in-flight refueling missions around the globe and Pratt & Whitney's engine selection is a testament to their first-rate product. Connecticut's skilled defense workers have always been a source of pride for the state and this announcement follows in the strong tradition of a quality, dependable product."
