Issue Position

Protecting the environment is a worthy goal and should be approached with balance and sensible planning. We all want a clean, beautiful, natural environment to enjoy. There is not much that I appreciate more than trees and pristine mountains towering over a sparkling lake. I would die fighting before I'd let us destroy all of nature or close us off from it (see Agenda 21 on my Scary Stuff page). However, sometimes a tree must fall and development is going to happen. That does not make humanity parasitical; it makes us part of life on earth. (Don't make up your mind about me yet; hear me out to the end please.) There is still work to be done towards decreasing pollution and I am confident we can find solutions. Knee jerk reactions requiring faith rather than logic are not going to help the environment or the people who are struggling to survive.

We have been bamboozled by the largest scam the world has ever known. Crooks passing themselves off as environmental warriors are destroying the common sense we had in order to make money or a name for themselves. There is now so much evidence (including their own words) that "Global Warming" was rigged that I don't know why we still have to have this conversation.

DDT was used without harmful consequences here last century and we eradicated malaria. How wonderful is that? Then Rachel Carson says it's a poison, everyone jumps on the bandwagon, and now nearly one million African children die each year due to malaria. We won't let them use it like we did successfully because we NOW deem it dangerous yet there is no evidence showing that there were negative consequences from our use of it. If you watch the documentary Not Evil Just Wrong you will see a white women sitting in her nice little garden somewhere in Africa smugly telling the world that hearing her little birdies is more important than saving African children from an early and unnecessary death. It shows the desperate mothers of these dying children begging the world to let them use a product that helped us. But we say no. WHY??!!! Is it passionate environmentalism or is it elitist racism in disguise? Or even worse, is it "the powers that be" clearing out a continent of its natives so they can more easily move in and take advantage of the resources there? Sure, the UN and the world leaders are doing it for the little birdies.... If you believe that I've got a stone tablet Moses made sitting in my backyard that I'll sell you for cheap.

My opinion is that the environmental movement has been commandeered by immoral opportunists that recognize the power this movement has over many people, especially the young. These leaders pose as "caring" and "more informed" than us hayseeds that don't agree but they are wrong. Not only was their data obtained in ways that gave faulty conclusions but the method to put the data together was erroneously contrived. In other words, it is a bunch of bullcra@. There was much money to be rewarded in the way of grants if you agreed, so many a once reputable scientific organization climbed aboard the global warming train. What a disgrace but they were worried about surviving. Is that so hard to believe?

About 40 years ago some of the same Chicken Littles were telling us that our use of fossil fuels was causing an impending ice age. You remember the ice age don't you? It was horrible, really horrible. Many were too distracted by disco and tube tops to remember but it was bad; billions died. OK seriously, there was no ice age in the 70's or 80's either but that is something (if it were true) to be more worried about. Previous ice ages have led to crop failures and mass starvation and death. I'll take an extra degree or two of heat over an ice age any day. Can't we just all calm down and keep our wits about us?
