Attorney General and U.S. Senate Candidate Richard Blumenthal touted his experience, independence and ability to reach across the aisles in speaking to the Northeastern Connecticut Chamber of Commerce today.

Blumenthal said Connecticut residents and business owners need a senator who will fight for them in addressing around 100 residents at The Harvest Restaurant in Pomfret.

"Connecticut is a small state but I've boxed about my weight by reaching across the aisles," Blumenthal said. "At the end of the day, what I do is fight for people - ordinary people - who have no where else to turn. That's what I hope you'll elect me to do in the U.S. Senate."

Blumenthal said his agenda for helping small businesses, which he described as the "engine of economic growth and job creation," includes ending the tax breaks that encourage big businesses to move jobs overseas, promoting grants for training partnerships and for some of the credit card reforms and protections lent to individuals to be extended to businesses.

Blumenthal said he would also work to cut the costs of business in the state, specifically health care and energy costs.
