Issue Position

Job and job security is the backbone of the economic structure in Georgia. Georgia's leaders must make job creation and growth a top priority in order to bring stability to our state and to our families. As your state representative, not only will I champion for short-term job growth and development throughout district but I will have the foresight to plan for future, long-term economic development and sustained job growth. This is good not only for Georgia and the district but also for our children who will replace our workforce.

Action Plan: To immediately create jobs, we have to invest and provide access to capital to small businesses. Small businesses make up 90% of the U.S. workforce yet as a small business owner, yet I do not know one business owner (and I am a business attorney) who has received one penny of the Wallstreet bail out funds...not one! Small businesses are hesitant to hire because of the extreme lack of access to capital and funding. As your state representative and a business attorney, I promise to fiercly advocate for businesses and business owners and for the working people. I will demand that government give access to capital and resources so desperately needed by businesses to employ and encourage the private sector to do so as well. Another way to create jobs short term is to use government building projects; transportation needs immediate attention in this State by expanding highways and roads and creating short-cut roads. This would put thousands of people immediately to work and at the same time move towards fixing Georgia's transportation and traffic issues. I will commit and ask my colleagues to commit to making jobs and education a TOP PRIORITY, without regards to politics. We MUST get people back to work!

When thinking long term about economic development and job growth, the solution comes back to the same thing: Education. The children we educate now will be our workforce in the future. If we fail to adequately train them today, our communities will suffer in the future. Job creation and sustainability and economic development long term start with educating our future workforce which are our children. I promise to continue to think about my actions and the long-term effects they have on jobs and economic development. You deserve a representative that will think about the voting choices I make today and the impact they will have in the future.
