U.S. Senator John Cornyn, R-Texas, today issued the following statement regarding the sudden and tragic death of former Senator Ted Stevens of Alaska.
"This is a sad day for the state of Alaska and our entire nation. When I came to the Senate in 2002, Ted Stevens was already one of the longest serving Republican Senators in history. His public service began with his military service in World War II and ended more than 60 years later. He was a dedicated, passionate and faithful public servant for the people of Alaska. But the role he cherished the most was that of husband, father and grandfather. His family, and the families of all those lost in this tragedy, are in Sandy's and my prayers."
