Sessions Named Taxpayer Hero from CCAGW

U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions has been named a "Taxpayer Hero" by the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste, receiving a 98 percent score for his voting record in the 1st Session of the 111th Congress (2009).

"I am honored to be named a Taxpayer Hero from the CCAGW," said Sessions. "In this 111th Congress, the American people have witnessed a spending binge by the Majority fueled by policies of more taxing, spending, and borrowing. Our nation needs responsible conservative leaders who will fight against the reckless agenda of this Democrat Congress. It is past time to hold the Majority accountable for their wasteful spending of taxpayer dollars. As always, I remain committed to championing fiscal responsibility and supporting common-sense policies that promote job creation and encourage economic growth."

This year marks the 21st anniversary of the CCAGW identifying members of Congress who vote in the interest of taxpayers. The 2009 Congressional Ratings evaluated 120 votes in the House and 74 in the Senate. The 2009 evaluations included votes against the failed "stimulus," government-run healthcare, and "cap-and-trade".
