Faced with the possibility of a being called into session after the November elections to pass controversial legislation, House Republicans tried to force a vote on a resolution pledging not to hold a lame duck session except in the case of a sudden, unforeseen national emergency.

U.S. Representative John Boozman voted to prevent the Democratic Majority from holding a lame duck session to pass unpopular policies that will destroy jobs, increase taxes and add to our nation's increasing deficit.

"Arkansans are concerned their voices are not being heard by lawmakers in Washington. They deserve to know their elected representatives are working for them and in their best interest. Unfortunately, like many Americans, I am concerned Speaker Pelosi is trying to avoid accountability and will force through contentious bills like cap-and-trade and card check with no regard to the opinions of American citizens," Boozman said.

On Tuesday, Boozman signed the Traditional Values Coalition pledge that states his opposition to the Obama-Pelosi-Reid agenda. Boozman is committed to supporting policies that cut spending, lower taxes and do not place the burden of the deficit on future generations.
