Statement by U.S. Senate Nominee Alexi Giannoulias on Elena Kagen's Swearing In

Statement

Date: Aug. 8, 2010

"While Elena Kagan and her family must rightfully be proud with today's ceremony, which is the fulfillment of a sterling career in law and government service, our nation as a whole should also feel great pride. For the first time in history, three women will serve together on our nation's highest court. As President Obama said, with Miss Kagan's confirmation to the Court, our country is 'a little more inclusive, a little more representative,' today, and that is always a worthy pursuit. Congratulations to Miss Kagan."
