Smith to Oppose Yet Another Stimulus Bill

Statement

Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) today announced his opposition to an effort by House Democrats to pass billions in additional stimulus spending. The $26.1 billion bill also has been criticized for its cuts to a renewable-energy loan initiative as well as for provisions tying states' hands on how to spend funds.

"Congress cannot continue to deny its responsibility for fiscal discipline. Every stimulus bill Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid ram through hurts our economy and only results in more spending and ever-increasing debt. The best way to get our economy back on track is for Congress to listen to the American people, cut wasteful spending, and help small businesses put people back to work," Smith said.
