In recognition of Elena Kagan's successful Supreme Court confirmation in the Senate yesterday, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-Sacramento) released the following statement:

"On behalf of California's 5th Congressional District, I congratulate Justice Kagan on her confirmation to the US Supreme Court. Elena's extensive background and achievements attest to her exceptional intelligence and exemplary character. I have had the privilege of working with Justice Kagan during the Clinton Administration and am confident that she will be a valuable addition to the Bench.
