Rep. Foster Statement on First Reagan Centennial Commission Meeting

Today, Rep. Bill Foster (IL-14) released the following statement after the first meeting of the Ronald Reagan Centennial Commission, which was held earlier today. Foster was named a member of the Commission after the legislation, which Foster helped pass, became law. "As the representative of Ronald Reagan's birthplace in Tampico and boyhood home in Dixon, I am thrilled that Illinois will play a central role in the Reagan Centennial Celebration," said Foster. "Today's inaugural meeting, in which we established an Executive Committee and appointed an Executive Director, among other things, laid the foundation for the work that lies ahead of us to honor the life and legacy of Ronald Reagan on the 100th anniversary of his birth. I also took this opportunity to encourage the Senators on the Commission to swiftly pass my bill to rename the Dixon Post Office for President Reagan, and I was pleased when their staff members reported that prospects for relatively prompt passage are good."
