Issue Position

The U. S. Congress has the responsibility to set the laws for naturalization and immigration. The Executive branch of our government is to enforce the laws. Here is how I will approach the matter as your Congressman:

* An immigrant must come to a sponsor who is a legal resident or entity in the United States. This person has the responsibility for their physical well being and their integration.
* There must be routine checks in for non-green card individuals. This would be similar to a parole process. Failure to check in flags a warrant.
* There will be no "anchor babies." Children born in the United States to "green-card visitors" may at age eighteen apply for citizenship.
* Illegal aliens who are discovered are sent back to the country of origin. Foreign aid to that country is reduced by ($100,000) per illegal alien. The one exception: political or religious asylum.
* "Sanctuary" cities forfeit all federal dollars.

We are a sovereign nation. We have borders and when they are abused, it is acceptable and expected to defend them. It is a mistake to think that all border breaches come from the same hemisphere, but it is possible to identify where the largest problem originates. We must use the resources we have to get the best and quickest results.
