All Life is a Gift and Should Be Protected

Few things are as miraculous as new life being brought into this world. Witnessing the birth of my daughter only strengthened my belief that we must protect the rights of the most defenseless members of our society. All life is a precious gift from God, whether it is an unborn child or a person in the twilight of their life. I firmly believe that life begins at conception and that we, American society, must protect life at all stages.

In order to eliminate the "abortion option" from our society, we must work to change not only laws but hearts and minds of Americans. Abortion should not be viewed as just another form of birth control. The unborn life is independent of the mother and yet totally dependent upon her. It should not be the right of anyone to decide that that new life should be ended simply because the pregnancy is inconvenient. This life was included with all lives in the statement that our founders believed in and that this country was born under, "They are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." To deny the innocent unborn child the right to life is an infringement on the rights that founded this great nation. It is our responsibility as Americans to do all that we can to protect these lives. In addition, we must also ensure that America's laws protect all who are in the latter stages of life from health care rationing and the denial of lifesaving care. I will do my utmost to protect the right to life for everyone, especially those most vulnerable.
