Issue Position: Government Spending

Issue Position

Federal government spending is completely out of control. In 2009, Congress voted to increase the national debt by over $5 trillion over the next five years. Tim Walberg believes government must live within its means and he would have voted against Speaker Pelosi's almost $4 trillion budget, the $800 billion spending bill, and the $410 billion special appropriations bill that increased spending by 8.4% and included 8,000 earmarks. Congressman Walberg believes politicians need to stop digging our nation deeper into debt. In 2008, Tim received the "Taxpayers Hero" Award from Citizens Against Government Waste.
