Today Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen issued the following statement regarding the Veterans Administration's (VA) regulation that simplifies the process for a veteran to claim benefits based on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD):
"The men and women serving in the Armed Forces have made immense sacrifices to keep our nation safe, and we must ensure they have the support they need when they return home. One of the most difficult challenges confronting our veterans today is Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and today the VA is taking an enormous step to more effectively combat this problem. In simplifying the process to claim service connection for PTSD, we will improve access to medical care and other benefits that veterans need and deserve."
