Van Hollen Slams Boehner's Promise to Repeal Wall Street Reform

Today, Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen, Assistant to the Speaker, issued the following statement in response to House Republican Leader John Boehner's comments that he will push to repeal Wall Street Reform:

"For months Washington Republicans huddled with Wall Street lobbyists to kill reform, and now it is clear they have failed. Since they couldn't kill it, House Republican Leader John Boehner is now promising, if given the opportunity, to repeal these important financial reforms before they're even law. This statement comes just a day before GOP leaders huddle with K Street lobbyists to map out their November strategy.

"Washington Republicans would rather give big banks free rein than prevent another economic crisis costs millions of jobs and leaves American families on the hook for a huge Wall Street bailout. Republican Leader Boehner wants business as usual -- he would prefer to sit back, do nothing, and bet on things getting better over time. That's a gamble the American people can't afford."
