Issue Position

Daniel Webster recognizes that government does not create success; it can only create or remove barriers that restrict Floridians' opportunity to achieve success. He also believes government's fundamental role is to protect its citizens' security. In the Florida Legislature, Daniel worked to reduce government and streamline and improve fundamental services.

* Improved the efficiency of critical government services by reforming Florida's Welfare program, the road-building process within the Florida Department of Transportation and the Comprehensive State Plan that guides growth decisions, to name a few;

* Increased or imposed mandatory prison sentences, most notably he sponsored 10-20-Life;

* Streamlined delivery of basic programs such as drivers' education, which was originally only provided to those in the public school system;

* Reformed government process to improve transparency and require legislative work to be done in the "sunshine" where all could see.
