Issue Position

* I will continue to keep my word as expressed in the Taxpayer Protection Pledge

* I favor fairer, flatter, simpler and lower taxes - I can support either the flat tax or the fair tax.

* We should make the 2002 tax cuts permanent. They expire at the end of the year. This would result in one of the largest tax increases in history and would further devastate our economy.

* We should end forever the marriage penalty and death tax.

* We should never raise taxes on Social Security or Medicare.

* We should lower and eventually abolish taxes on capital gains and businesses. Even China has a capital gains tax of zero.

* We should cut tax rates now to spur economic growth as we work toward a flatter, fairer tax code.
