Boozman Protects Against Cuts to Medicare Reimbursements

U.S. Representative John Boozman's letter to Speaker Pelosi is answered with a vote on the House Floor.

24 hours after Boozman called on Pelosi to quit playing political games with health services to America's seniors, the House of Representatives voted on legislation to erase Medicare cuts to physicians.

"Holding Medicare reimbursement rates hostage is unfair to our seniors and our physicians. Eliminating Medicare cuts is the first step to providing our seniors with access to the care they need. Washington must work to solve the Medicare reimbursement rate once and for all. I believe the solution to this ongoing problem is a permanent fix to increase access to physicians, to pay doctors an amount that reflects the true and current costs of services, and to use a sound funding mechanism that will prevent possible future cuts," Boozman said.

Boozman, an optometrist, has always been opposed to cuts to Medicare reimbursements because of the impact it has on patients.
