Way back in 1947, House Concurrent Resolution HCR2 passed the Indiana General Assembly. The men and women in the Statehouse expressed contempt for a problem we know to be factual still today. The Federal system uses a series of laws and regulatory policies to enforce national directives onto the various states, without the proper authority to do so.
This problem motivated me to introduce and secure passage of SR42 in 2009, a resolution declaring our state sovereignty as identified by the ninth and tenth amendments to the U.S. Constitution. I believe it is my responsibility as a state legislator to take a lead role in defending the balance of power which is designed into our government. Any right we fail to defend will dissipate over time. Like the lobster in the boiling pot, the Federal bureaucrats slowly raise the temperature with each directive which ties the receipt of federal money to the implantation by the states of its policy objectives.
