Bennet Statement on House Passage of DISCLOSE ACT

Statement

Date: June 24, 2010
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Elections

Michael Bennet, U.S. Senator for Colorado, released the following statement regarding the House of Representatives passage of the DISCLOSE Act, a bill he has cosponsored in the Senate that would limit the fallout from the Supreme Court's recent disastrous ruling in Citizens United v. FEC:

"Voters should be able to see clearly and plainly exactly who is behind the big dollar ad buys and political attacks," said Bennet. "The House of Representatives was right to pass the DISCLOSE Act today, and the Senate needs to follow suit. We simply can't stand by as unaccountable special interest money floods our airwaves and stacks the deck further against the American people."

Bennet's push for legislation to limit the special interest election spending is part of his Plan for Washington Reform.
