When constituents are having a problem with the federal government, my office can often help. Whether you are a veteran trying to file a claim with the VA, a small business attempting to navigate the bureaucracy of the IRS, a senior trying to obtain Medicare benefits, or are facing any number of issues with a federal agency, my experienced staff members work hard to serve Coloradans.
I'd like to share some of these "Success Stories" with you in a new segment of my blog. If you, or anyone you know, needs help with a federal agency please do not hesitate to contact my office.
A Hero's Recognition
Thomas Ready is a Coloradan and Vietnam Era veteran who served his country admirably. Unfortunately, he had gone for years without ever receiving the medals he earned while protecting our liberties. Thomas' father, also a veteran who had passed away, had earned several medals during World War II, yet Thomas was unable to find any evidence that his father received his medals. After working unsuccessfully for several years to try to acquire their medals, Thomas met with my staff at my Arkansas Valley office to see if we could help him.
My office contacted the National Personnel Records Center on Thomas' behalf and was able to help Thomas receive his National Defense Service Medal, and the Sharpshooter Badge with Rifle Bar. Mr. Ready's father will now posthumously receive the Bronze Star Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Combat Infantry Badge 1st Award, and Honorable Service Lapel Button WWII. I'm glad that we were able to resolve this situation to ensure that a family of Colorado veterans received the recognition and honor they deserve.
