The American people deserve a healthcare system that provides quality care while maintaining affordability and accessibility. The best approach is a system that applies more market principles, including transparent information flow and clear competition so the patient (you or me) can make informed decisions about our health care while maintaining financial security.

* I also believe in preserving and strengthening Medicare and Social Security. Medicare benefits should not be cut, nor should higher premiums and co-pays be passed on to those who live on a fixed income.
* Social Security should not be privatized and handed to Wall St.
* COBRA healthcare coverage is essential to the security of the temporarily unemployed and needs to be extended.

Like any company, insurance conglomerates should strive to earn profit, but not at the expense and victimization of ordinary Americans. Insurance companies have earned billions of dollars in part by denying working people the coverage that they paid for. Our health coverage should not be denied, disallowed, or negated by insurance companies. This must stop now.
