Schumer Recommends Charles Salina to be the Next U.S. Marshal for the Western District of New York

Today, U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer announced he has recommended Charles F. Salina to be the next U.S. Marshal for the Western District of New York. Salina has served in the U.S. Marshal Service since 1992 and has served as the Supervisory Marshal for the entire Western District since 1998. The Western District encompasses the counties of Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Chemung, Erie, Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Niagara, Ontario, Orleans, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Wayne, Wyoming and Yates.

"Charlie Salina is a true blue law enforcement professional who has served his country and the Marshal's Service with honor and excellence; I have no doubt he will make a first-rate United States marshal for Western New York," said Senator Schumer.

Salina began his service with the U.S. Marshal Service in 1988 when he was named Deputy Marshal for the Southern District of New York. He came to the Western District in 1992 and six years later became the Acting Supervisory U.S. Marshal for the Western District. During his service with the U.S. Marshals he established a special Sex Offenders Task Force that included a variety of law enforcement agencies in the Western District. Saline grew up in Penfield, in Monroe County, and attended Eastridge High School.

Schumer is a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee which handles the confirmation of U.S. Marshals. Today he recommended Salina to President Obama for the position of U.S. Marshal in the Western District of NY.
