Louisiana Congressman Bill Cassidy issued the following statement on the President's deepwater energy moratorium:

"The President's moratorium appears to be a political reaction to a situation that demands rational solutions."

"While the President asks tourists to visit the beaches of Florida and Alabama to save the jobs of hotel workers, he simultaneously imposes a moratorium that destroys tens of thousands South Louisiana jobs employing welders, pipefitters, and rig workers."

"On behalf of these workers and their families, I ask that the President reconsider."
