Dear Secretary Veneman:

Due to extreme weather conditions with excess rain, lightning, high winds, flooding, hail, and a tornado occurring between May 1, 2004 through the present, the following counties have suffered agricultural crop production and physical losses:

Allen, Athens, Auglaize, Carroll, Columbiana, Coshocton, Crawford, Cuyahoga, Fayette, Greene, Guernsey, Hancock, Henry, Hocking, Holmes, Jackson, Logan, Mahoning, Medina, Montgomery, Noble, Perry, Preble, Tuscarawas, Union, Washington, and Wayne.

In addition, the following counties in Ohio have suffered production losses only due to the ongoing excess moisture situation:

Ashtabula, Defiance, Delaware, Erie, Fairfield, Geauga, Lake, Licking, Logan, Lorain, Lucas, Marion, Morgan, Muskingum, Ottawa, Paulding, Portage, Sandusky, Scioto, Seneca, Summit, Van Wert, Williams, Wood, and Wyandot.
Please refer to the case files submitted to your office by the Ohio Farm Service Agency for specific details.

In order to provide needed relief for Ohio farmers, we respectfully request a disaster designation for these counties. If Mr. Fred Dailey, Director of the Ohio Department of Agriculture, can provide additional information, please let us know.
