U.S. Representative Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.) and her Republican Budget Committee colleagues today offered a series of specific spending cuts that would save taxpayers $1.3 trillion. The proposal counters House Democrats' refusal to set a budget and reduce spending.

The package, "Cut Spending Now," includes Lummis' recently introduced bill, H.R. 5348, the Federal Workforce Reduction Act.

"Our dire fiscal situation won't fix itself. As our national debt nears $13 trillion, Washington Democrats continue to ignore repeated calls to work together on setting a budget. The longer Congress waits to deal with our fiscal imbalance, the more difficult the choices become," Lummis said.

""Cut Spending Now' identifies $1.3 trillion in savings for American taxpayers and focuses on Americans' top priorities: private sector job creation and fiscal responsibility. This is a step in the right direction."
