Capito Announces America Speaking Out

Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., today announced America Speaking Out, an unprecedented new initiative by House Republicans to engage the American people in building a new policy agenda for America. Through new media efforts online at AmericaSpeakingOut.com and through traditional venues including town hall meetings, the new initiative will create an open marketplace of ideas for the direction of our nation, regardless of party affiliation.

"Our country faces daunting challenges and it is high time for the American people's voices to be heard as we set out solving these problems," said Capito. "We plan to offer the nation a new set of policy solutions, but rather than using an agenda handed down from Washington, we want the American people to be included in building it up from the ground."

Throughout the summer, House Republicans will listen to the priorities and ideas offered by the American people and begin to have an honest discussion about the road to recovery. The agenda that materializes at the end of the process will reflect months of engagement, and the final product will offer a clear commitment of policy solutions that Americans can expect to be fought for in Congress.

"I believe we must work diligently to restore America's trust in the process of democracy and I believe America Speaking Out is a means to that end," concluded Capito.
