Capito Announces First YouCut Winning Proposal
Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., today made the following statement to announce the results of the newly created YouCut initiative in which West Virginians can vote--online and via cell phone--for federal spending cuts they would like to Congress to pass.
"After receiving over 81,000 votes, I'm happy to announce the inaugural YouCut winner is a proposal to eliminate a duplicative $2.5 billion annual welfare program created by the so-called stimulus bill. I hope our Democrat colleagues will join us in listening to their constituents and support this cut on the House floor.
"I'd like to thank the thousands of West Virginians who have taken time out of their day to tell Washington that they are fed up with excessive, wasteful spending. Through our program, citizens across our state and the country are speaking out."
