Capito Statement on EPA Final Rule for Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., today made the following statement regarding the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) final rule for regulating greenhouse gases emitted from stationary sources, including coal-fired power plants, under the Clean Air Act:

"The EPA's final rule on regulating greenhouse gas emissions is yet another confirmation of this Administration's anti-coal sentiments. Using the Clean Air Act to regulate emissions will increase operating costs for our state's electric and coal-fired power plants, which will then be passed on to each and every West Virginian in the form of higher energy bills.

"The EPA's continued efforts to legislate through regulation are deeply troubling. Congress is the appropriate body to create laws for such regulation, not unelected bureaucrats."
