Issue Position

Mike Kelly believes that we are poised to usher in a new economy that is greener, leaner, and sustainable for years to come. Our state and region are rich in natural resources, and it is time that we tap those and become a leader in the development of energy to reach our goal of energy independence.

There is no single solution to our energy challenges. Instead, Mike believes that we need to use a toolbox approach to energy independence. We need to make sure that we have the right mix of solar, wind, hydro, clean coal, natural gas, nuclear, and even oil to make sure that our country can grow and prosper in the years to come. Our area is home to a proud history of energy production, including some of the nations first oil wells. We are poised to be on the forefront of the new energy economy thanks not only to our rich history, but also to our proximity to large deposits of natural gas known as Marcellus Shale. Mike Kelly believes that we need to work with these emerging industries to make sure that they can be a part of the solution to our energy challenges.
