Issue Position: Bailouts

Issue Position

One of the reasons that Mike got into the race for Congress is because he believes that the bailout bills that have passed Congress put Wall Street before Main Street. Both political parties have failed the American people when it comes to bailouts, but the Obama administration has taken it to new heights.

These bailouts have placed taxpayers on the hook for trillions of dollars, and many of the institutions that we were supposed to stabilize have done just the opposite. The federal government swooping in to artificially prop up troubled business undermines the free market principles that have made this the most prosperous nation on earth.

Even worse, we see a federal government that bails out irresponsible businesses and individuals, while at the same time leaving hardworking taxpayers to fend for themselves. If you paid your mortgage, worked your job, and held your financial future together through this recession, what did you get? A bill to bailout those who didn't.

Not only is this approach unfair, it is ineffective. Policies like these have not improved our economy, these policies have put us on a path toward a deeper economic decline by rewarding irresponsibility.
