On President Obama's nomination of Solicitor General Elena Kagan to the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., released the following statement:

"One of the most important duties I have as a U.S. Senator is my Constitutional responsibility to advise and consent on Supreme Court nominations. An important part of the Senate's role is to ensure the President's nominee receives a fair and thorough confirmation process.
