Rep. Walz released this statement following House passage of the Caregivers and Veterans Omnibus Health Services Act:

"The brave men and women who have put their lives on the line defending our country and their families deserve the best care and support we can give them," said Rep. Walz. "Keeping our promise to our nation's veterans should be our top priority and I am proud of what this legislation will do to achieve better care and access for those who have sacrificed so much for our nation."

This legislation gives support to family members and caregivers who care for our wounded warriors returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. It will help improve access to care for rural veterans and improves health services for almost 2 million female veterans. It also ensures that the VA can better treat veterans suffering from mental health issues.

It is supported by a broad coalition of veterans groups including the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, AMVETS, Paralyzed Veterans of America, the Wounded Warrior Project and the National Military Family Association.
