U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions today released the following statement in response to a Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) report confirming that the new healthcare reform law will increase healthcare costs and cause millions of seniors to lose their current coverage:
"The federal government has confirmed what the American people already understood: the healthcare reform law means higher costs and fewer choices in healthcare.
"Despite repeated promises to curb healthcare costs and allow people to keep their current coverage, President Obama and Democrats in Congress have enacted a healthcare law that will escalate national healthcare costs by over $300 Billion in the first ten years and displace over seven million seniors from their Medicare Advantage coverage.
"Prizing their political agenda over representative government, Democrats in Congress knowingly defied the will of the American people and forced through a government takeover of healthcare that spells financial ruin with unsustainable spending and deficits.
"The American people deserve leaders in Washington who will listen to them and actually solve problems -- not make them worse. That is why I will continue fighting to repeal this fatally-flawed healthcare law and replace it with common-sense healthcare reforms that increase access to affordable, quality care."
