Today, Rep. Bill Foster (IL-14) joined a bipartisan group of Members of Congress to announce the formation of the Congressional Transparency Caucus.
"As a firm believer that a transparent government is a more accountable one, I have worked to ensure that my constituents have full access to the work that I am doing on their behalf," said Foster. "I look forward to working with this caucus to spread transparency throughout our government, helping the public to access and analyze government information."
The Transparency Caucus, which was established on March 5, 2010, will pursue education, legislation and oversight. It will introduce and support legislation that requires most federal information to be freely accessible, consistently organized and electronically searchable, among other things.
"As someone who has done extensive computer programming during my careers in business and science, I look forward to making sure these initiatives are carried out in a technically sound and cost-effective manner," said Foster.
The Caucus is chaired by Republican Congressman Darrell Issa (CA-49) and Democratic Congressman Mike Quigley (IL-05).
