China - President Obama shifted authority at the end of September 09 for approving sales to China of missile and space technology from the White House to the Commerce Department -- a move that will loosen export controls and potentially benefit Chinese missile development. President Obama needs to restore strict limits on the transfer of missile and space technology to China and when I'm elected to Congress, I'll make sure we focus on closer oversight authority to ensure that the Obama administration does not undermine United States security and sovereignty.
Israel - The U.S.-Israel relationship is one of the most important aspects of our national security and one I know well from my military experience. Even though the peace talks in the region are hostile more often than not, we must continue to support the country with foreign affairs and security assistance. I have a unique understanding of Israel and Palestine due to my National Guard deployment to the Sinai region.
Missile Defense - President Obama recently signed a treaty with Russia to reduce our nuclear weapons and limit the production of new ones. However, in a world where Iran and North Korea continue to come out with news of their advancements in nuclear enrichment and weapon capabilities, I don't think it's the time to be signing agreements to reduce our stockpile. Secondarily, I have my own concerns on Russia- Where are North Korea and Iran getting their technology and uranium? Every time I see Putin meeting with Chavez in Venezuela, I get a little bit more concerned.
