Do You Think Congress Should Balance The Budget?

Dear Friend,

I recently held a public meeting at Price's Barbeque House in Auburn.

When I talk with folks in East Alabama, they tell me they're deeply concerned about the legislative priorities of the Democratic leadership in Congress.
So am I.

I think Congress is too focused on increasing taxes and growing government, instead of helping middle class families.

If you didn't have a chance to participate, here's some of what we discussed:

Folks are concerned about spending.

For example, last year's budget, S. Con. Res. 13, which I opposed, included a record $3.55 Trillion in spending.

Coupled with that, our growing deficit is also a concern.

The estimated deficit for this year is over $1.3 Trillion. That is historic.

And on the jobs front, folks agree Congress needs to do more.

For example, I think Congress should pass incentives, like tax credits, that can help small businesses invest, expand and hire.

I agree with the folks I talked with at the public meeting: it's time Congress gets its spending under control.
