Carter: A New Era for Iraq

Washington, D.C. - Today U.S. Representative John R. Carter welcomed the early transition between the Coalition
Provisional Authority (CPA) and the Iraqi people and made the following statement:

"The early transition is a good sign that the people of Iraq are ready to embrace and begin living a life ruled by the people with the power of democracy.

"Iraq will now be a self-governed nation and I am confident that they will be strong and successful. This is a historic day for Iraq and for all the nations that helped them attain their new found freedom; it is a beginning of a new era."
